Found some of the pictures I took that are already uploaded on my Picasa , so here it goes

d

The hotel outlook, very grand looking I know and its cheap too (like 150RM only inclusive of breakfast) but nowadays I checked the price on Wotif and seemed to have increased. If they have not done any renovation to the room, well the room is normal and nothing special compared to the room pictures I featured in this blog like the Gardens or the Banyan tree room.

s

The hotel lagoon, when filled up, its quite nice and people can kayak around it. Overall this hotel is very good for families, their pool is big and nice too, some parts are semi-indoor (roof above it) and there are some small slides too.

s

Me at the lagoon, very hot in Port Dickson and the beach, virtually none at this hotel, only sand and lagoon. Though there is the public beach with jet ski and banana boat rides quite nearby (still need car)

s

View from the room, the lagoon semi filled-up, in the early morning its nearly empty, but too lazy to take a pic, its not a nice sight anyway. Breakfast in the hotel was not that good, well a simple hotel with simple standard.

They have a few old arcade games at the lobby and a few karaoke boxes too. but the lifts are like forever damp and smelly.

s

The only Port Dickson attraction we went to, a lighthouse, its name is Cape Rachardo (Tanjung Tuan) Lighthouse. Its still in operation and the hike up from the carpark where there is a hotel too, then we can just park the car there.

since its located in a forest reserve, there is plenty of flora and fauna around but, we are sweaty and we are no hikers into jungle. The hike up and down is as much exercise as we get for the entire year (cos we do not exercise at all)

s

At the top, we managed some very decent pictures of the sun going to be set

s

This one taken with my sunglass acting as polarisers (since then the sunglass has been retired due to broken legs)

s

The pool back at the hotel , very inviting right

s

No beach activities but the view is quite alluring and relaxing for a short getaway.

Seremban is just half an hour away so we have dinner there at the amazing crab restaurants they have and I always visited seremban every time we went to KL (Genting) because their Bah Kut Teh and seafood is very good. Not to forget the Seremban Siew Pau and my favourite Kaya Puff ( its chewy – the kaya and crispy – the puff , smooth – its more like a pancake on the outside, and better than any macaroons that cost like $2 in SG, this one cost less that a buck and its huge!) yes traditional and no-nonsense but its really wonderful, next time I will remember to take a pic before gobbling them all up

s

the lagoon empty is really ugly!

s

the sky is always super nice blue

s

island in the distance visited by many ships, wonder why?

s

Seremban in a rainy evening, many buildings still british inspired.

s

My crustacean friend we had for dinner,

and on the way home, we came across this place

s

Eagle ranch resort

Each of those wagon is 2 rooms (upstairs and downstairs), quite unique rite, and there are many things on their resort (archery, go-kart etch) but its a little bit far from port dickson and not sure about the food around it.

mainly for team- building i guess, but maybe its popular? not sure but sure look very interesting decor

s

One last look at the cute wagons

till next time’

After last night usual Malay/Chinese fare,

we should eat Indian food today, we have it for brunch!
at the famous KAPITAN claypot briyani place. Ask any local about the best Indian food, their answer will be little India (DUH! in singapore too right, race course road for the best Indian FOOD) and then of course, we ask where in little India, and most will point you towards Kapitan

Here is their outlook, right in the corner from Little India,

s

probably because its easy to find, bright big red signboard (No one wants their guests to be stranded and hungry, as the saying goes, a hungry man is an angry man!) and of course they serve good food! and Look at their extensive menu!

actually we wanted to try their prata/roti canai as the Malaysians called it (supposedly very good) but they run out already and will only start making again at 4pm

s

so we just “settled” with their Tandoori set and of course their claypot briyani!

total bill (RM18.7) inclusive of Ice TEH (tea with milk and brown sugar, taste very refreshing ) and the traditional Mango LASSI

The food here is absolutely SUPERB! I will return again for their prata and more claypot briyani, it was simply the best briyani I have eaten, and usually briyani gives me stomachache, ever since secondary school I avoid eating briyani, but this one is served with grilled chicken, so the taste was different and the rice in claypot is absolutely flavourful

the Tandoori set also good, the chicken is full of flavour, moist and tender! and their bread, taste as good as the bread I ate at Prego!, with the curry or the sauce given, they are just fantastic

Definitely 5 stars for food!

after the satisfying brunch, we walked round little india a bit more.
Little India in Penang is not as happening as the one in Singapore, just the blaring Bollywood music indicate you r indeed in Little india, the usual Jasmine and spices smell is not as obvious. In fact, the streets are quite empty, perhaps its still early in the morning.

a

but of course, there is the street hawkers peddling the usual mind boggling varieties of Vadai, and other Indian snacks

after all the food, we walked over to the Goddess of Mercy temple. this temple, not to be confused with the Kuan Yin temple or the Kek Lok Si, which also worship Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy), yes Penang has many Kuan Yin temples, but this one near Little India is particularly special, it was mainly dedicated to the Goddess of Sea “Ma Chor Poh” as well as Kuan Yin

more information, you can read here.

d

as its quite a special place, many people can be seen praying here!

s

s

MrK haggling for the best jossticks, and then praying!

More pictures of the temple

s

s

s

It was a particularly Hot DAY! all the josssticks burning just adds to the temperature, so we need to cool and just across the road, we find this, Da Jie Desserthouse

I had the See KoR Thng (similar to Chng Thng) , MrK the Cendol! (RM 5)

Of course we walked further, along the way is whole road full of money changers, everyone in Jln Masjid Kapitan Keling is a money changer, AWESOME!, there is at least 100+ money changers in that road alone, not counting the ones in inner alleys ( I spot several)

and One cant miss the building in which the road is named after, the Masjid Kapitan Keling (Masjid=Mosque in Malay).

s

this building is Persian inspired, and the huge clock tower is awe inspiring, and I am sure when it was prayer time, it will be filled with people, luckily we are there on Thursday and not Friday!

I shall end the post here, it is getting too long

well one last look at the mosque, from another angle

Today we woke up pretty early to catch the breakfast in hotel.

then we rented a canoe to go to renggis island.(60rm/hr for 2 seater canoe)

given our limited canoeing skill, we manage to dock our canoe at the floating platform and do some snorkelling.

basically in renggis island, the sealife is still quite well preserved. I spotted nemo(clownfish) on my last snorkelling trip.

there are reef sharks etc too

well here is dinner pic from day one and some sunset pic

plus alligator …well i am kidding, its monitor lizard, very common in tioman, and they are quite big too.

have not been spotted much near the beach but very common in the rivers, waterways etc.

t

well its been such a bliss. I mean waking up everyday and just walking by the soft sand, enjoying the sea breeze. go canoeing, snorkelling and then back to the room for some rest, drink some beach liquor such as Malibu.

yeap bought malibu pineapple, contreau, and hennessy fine white wine, the other 2 bottle stolen!!!! at tekek main village on second day.

today we also had dinner at the restaurants outside berjaya. this time round at the malay food one!
ordered tom yam fried rice and some veg. while its cheap at almost half the price of the chinese restaurant. we dont like the food and went back to the chinese restaurant

well tips to stay away from sandfly is to rub baby oil.so before we head outta the room, we rub baby oil generously. we bought ours from johnson and johnson in Giant at Mersing before we board the ferry.

well actually we also bought snorkelling gear in Mersing. almost 200 bucks worth!! now all stolen though!!!

well stolen story is for another part

meanwhile enjoy the pics

s

s

this pic is taken at Renggis island, just throw a tiny bit of bread (we bought a loaf at giant only at 2rm, better than buying stale bread from hotel at 5rm) and all the fish flock, free fish spa!!
but mrK Are terrified of them. n would not go topless while swimming for fear of fish bites!

s

presenting to u, tioman’s monitor lizard. sorry for blur pics. my camera has bad zoom capability!
s

s

lastly, its me sipping my orange/pineapple juice by the beach.

i think i have lost weight (happy!) from all the canoeing, swimming etc and of course the stress free life
my skin also look fantastic here. though my eyerings are still as bad as ever.
well alot of ppl ask me what did i do to keep my skin look clean all the time.

i can assure u no photoshop, cos i dun have any installed in this laptop. my other laptop is stolen.
its just that i dun wear any makeup at all everyday. only for very special occasion, eg going for dinner at posh places, attending a party etc i would wear my powder foundation, some blush and lipgloss.

but thats a topic for another time

look out for my part 3 (final part) on my round island trip of tioman and our sad journey back!

tips on making police report in JB (OUR STUFF GOT STOLEN there)

MOF recently opened a dessert only branch near MrK house in Choa Chu Kang’s Lot 1 mall

MOF has been my favourite place for desserts especially their macha (green tea) stuff

MOF actually stands for Minister of Food

but price is a bit steep, usually 8-10 bucks for one dessert

but its nice so I try to afford it like once in two months

here is some of the nice pictures

From WordPress
From WordPress

these were taken from their nice Bugis Junction outlet. I am very lazy to take out my camera with me nowadays but I think i will do so more to blog more

cos I found an easier way to upload pics fast

Bali day 3 and Surabaya day 1 January 9, 2008

Today we r leaving bali for surabaya, the capital city of east Java province.

the Ngurah rai airport can be reached within 20 mins from the hotel. but since hotel breakfast sucks we just go early to the airport (ard 3 hrs early). luckily there is the free assisted baggage handling and check in if u have the BNI platinum credit card which mom has. so we dont have to wait for our baggages to be checked in, someone else is doing it for us.

but then we had to plastic wrapped the honey which cost 50000 IDR. what a waste, some of the honey spilled out too

here is photos at the denpasar lounge. very big which has quite huge varities of food although still not as good as the surabaya lounge. the food in the pic is called Bubur Madura (Madura porridge). It is a kind of dessert made from different flours with different textures and combined together and with Gula Melaka (gula jawa we called it ) and it taste really good.

and then we took Mandala airlines from Denpasar to Surabaya.

some pics we took onboard the plane

within one hour we landed at the brand new Juanda airport in Surabaya

then we tried to call our favourite hotel the sheraton surabaya, it was fully booked and crazy amt is charged although not as crazy as Bali prices (ard 1 mill rupiah per nite)

and then we went to book through KAHA tour (they have a counter at the airport) we are staying at JW Marriotts.

the hotel is located very near Tunjungan plaza (sheraton is just next to it) and the hotel provide shuttle service to the plaza every half hour. we went to the plaza almost everyday to buy mineral water and to eat too.

for lunch we have rawon setan (ghost soup) rawon is a kind of of black soup which has meat and taste nice. usually comes with small tauge and belachan chilli. the history of this ‘ghost’ food is actually varied.

the less spooky one is that they used to open at night only and was located next to a nightclub and ghost also come out in the middle of the night only so they make that connection

the more spooky one is that they were used to be located behind a hospital, so those unidentified dead bodies might be thrown to them to made into rawon thus the name ghost rawon.

it is supposedly one of surabaya’s favourite eating haunts n indeed it is quite crowded at all times we know because our room faces the street. and rawon setan is located just across the street.

btw that Kaha tour price is quite reasonable the marriott room cost only 550000 inclusive of breakfast for 2. and the room is quite nice with 2 queen size beds in the room and complete shower amenities with bathtub too.

in the afternoon, we went for christmas mass at the oldest church in surabaya is called Gereja Kepanjen. the architecture is famous everywhere and it is indeed majestic. too bad I dont have pictures so here is some pics taken from the net

photos taken from mimimama.multiply.com

there are other unique surabaya architecture too in that website. as well as the famous ice cream zangradi (exist since the 1940s) mom used to have dates there. maybe my sis too if she really attend universitas airlangga like mom used too.

anyway at night we eat at Pondok Tempoe Doeloe ( House of Yesterday pardon the translations). but being christmas night, they ran out of almost everything, leaving us to just eat fish, vege and usual stuff. their fried chicken is their speciality. actually this restaurant is available everywhere even in Jakarta so no pics

lastly here is some pics of Marriott Lobby , as expected it is very grand and nice

and the super huge christmas tree sssss

and the bathroom pics

no room pics sorry but they are nice and well furnished so yeah well recommended esp if the price is right

Today is spent in the hotel, eat a full breakfast and then laze till afternoon when we rented a bike, 2 bikes to be exact those tandem bike to explore the surrounding area. while biking of course pic taking is limited

we went to eat mainly at the nearest decent restaurant from the hotel ard 2 km away called anda restaurant. i cannot recall what we eat nor took pics and it wasnt impressive at all so yeah just cheaper than hotel thats all and food standard quite the same

and then we biked on n on till we found a small cave , wanting to go in, my mom n sis in a bike speed through but sand blocked them and they fell. sis eyes got hurt so we didnt go inside the cave instead went back to hotel.

then mom n me in the same bike. we bike ard the hotel compound for a while and then we went back to the room

this day is also the 10th anniversary of Novotel Lombok. but BOOOOO guests r not invited very sad.

anyway we went canoeing in the late afternoon and here is more pic of the beach

quite fun canoeing among the rocks, because there are several huge hills surrounding the hotel sometimes the hotel also organised a highland trek but we didnt join in

anyway tom we will be leaving for Bali, the island of Paradise

watch out for tom’s report

its really comparable to other nice hotels. highland and Genting feels old and lousy as compared to this one.

After 2 days there we went back to singapore, on the way visited this Kuan Im temple, there is a huge Kuan Im statue there. and the weather is really nice so is the scenery

Ok thats all next up is pics from the Hokkaido fair

OK I dunno where is the rest of the pics but these are the ones saved in my phone

rmb several blog post ago I mentioned that I will put my GPS to work for my very first Malaysia road trip, funny how I have done Thailand road trip without GPS and came back safely albeit there was one minor accident near Phuket there

I havent wrote extensively abt it but some pictures can be found in this blog.
basically we went on a 10 days trip from Bangkok to Phuket
4 days in BKK to source for car and some minor shopping
2 days in Kanchanaburi to do a little tekking and cave watching
1 day in Cha-Am to explore this royalty’s beach and to visit the huge market at Petchaburi
2 days at the Andaman beach (one of the island ) beautiful resorts just for $50 a nite. Great food too
3 days at Phuket, basically at Phuket town most times

anyway enough bout that one cos this post is abt malaysia version
initially wanted to go Penang, but its far and we are only gone for the weekend
go awana Kijal because I love the beach but well Genting has been a destination afterall for MrK

so we went to Genting
set off in the morning, but 2nd Link
stop in Melaka for the famous Chicken rice Ball, basically just chicken rice rolled into balls nothing special thus not posting much

continue to Genting, testing of car here, steep road almost 90 degrees climb at most times but we arrived safely. Looked at hotel rooms but to no avail, in genting hotel. The junior suite reeks of dunno what smell. the normal rooms is just not worth it. In the end stayed at Resort’s Mezzanine level. THis place sucks dont ever stay here.

looked around and find food, at baskin robbins and such
and moved to Resort’s Deluxe room.

Really very nice. lived up to resort name. with Red Earth toiletries to boot

too bad I dunno where I put the pics of the rooms

anyway here is some pics of the restaurant that used to be at Themepark Hotel
Theme Park restaurant
chinese restaurant serving seafood

we ordered our very first taste of patin Fish, very expensive fish, live in rivers. cos almost 90RM

Pics: Some tofu dish, prawn fried tim sum and Patin fish steamed in ginger

Some mushroom dish, sorry forgot cos this trip is more than a month ago

lunch cum dinner cost S$80
after that we walked around and gt ourselves awana kijal vouchers…but i dunno maybe cant be used cos no time to go overseas

anyway more pics

on the way back, we stopped for supper at yong peng, using GPS we found a KFC how cool is that in small sleepy yong peng we didnt get lost

it was 11pm and KFC is closing

MrK’s supper: KFC Black Pepper Chix Chop, very nice according to him

My supper Fishball noodles : very nice too

eta: Found the pics look out for next blog post

Trying to do some food reviews now
I ate at PizzaHut centrepoint yesterday and ordered Splitzza meal, Hut’s Platter n Orleans Delight Baked Rice.

Zing&Zest Pizza:SO said they lacked ingredients AGAIN n thankfully there were extra lime mayo from the salad bar so we helped ourselves

Orleans Delight:quite ok standard of baked rice so its 6/10

Hut’s Platter: consists of drumlets, calamari rings, onion rings n criss-cross fries, 4 each, so at the price of $8 aft discount it’s not that worth it
5/10

NOTE: i based my reviews on taste n Price, ambience came third in my food adventures
as a person with not much money to burn Price is damn imPortant
