Each month, given our limited budget, I usually (yes, sometimes i go crazy!) only eat at expensive places once or twice a month.
this month, WE decided to visit Prego at Fairmont Singapore (formerly known as Raffles the Plaza) because of 2 things
1> I love the real Italian pizza (those thin crust kind) and hate the pizza hut kind (bread kind which is thick)
a little OT: I have been to Italy, specifically Rome and Florence, but I didnt eat any pizza cos I was on tour and was on very tight schedule. REALLY have to go back there and do a slow, my own Angels and Demons tour of the churches. and of course visit Milan and Venice! but I did try pizza when i was in Amsterdam, that was the moment of my revelation of the real italian pizza, which is the uber thin and crispy crust
2> we have 50% off because of some credit card deals
well the total bill comes up to almost 90 bucks even after disc, but we did order quite a bit.
here are some pictures, yes i know its in wrong order.
their service is impeccable , the right course comes at the right time and there was no pileup of food at any time unlike in some other places.
well to be honest, first time eating in hotel ala carte. usually we only do buffett there. of couse Swensens at the Park Hotel in Orchard (prev called crown price hotel) doesnt count rite? plus its closed now due to renovations. maybe Swensens wont be there anymore next time.
but after reading mixed reviews on the food, we decided to take the plunge
and we are dead!!! yes the food is really bad!
their highly raved tiramisu, most of the reviews I read is saying that its the best tiramisu! but I have eaten better ones. nicely decorated with a Prego logo on top of the tiramisu itself! but really not worth the 15 bucks each. quite small serving too
My main course, Ravioli with Lobster and crab sauce.
I hate it, it sucks and its bloody expensive. While I know from watching all those travelogue that ravioli just means dumpling. I didnt expect it to be like this. plus there was only 3 pieces and cost like 35 bucks! the ravioli i expect is like small and many, just like 5x bigger than the normal macaroni and not 500x bigger n yet it sucks
The bottom 2 pic is the pizza. when we visited the restaurant, they had run out of pork, and thus their famous parma ham. so we ordered their mushroom pizza.
I forgot what mushroom its called. but I remember it was smelly! n we cant even eat much of the pizza so we pack it home.
my companion’s main course. Creamy spaghetty with bacon and ham, but since there wasnt any pork, they replaced with chicken. and it was very bland! really no taste at all
our soups, I had the carrot soup, and my companion the mushroom soup. very big serving. I was almost full after the soup. and the mushroom soup is really quite bland.
I think the best item is their complementary bread. super ironic i know It comes warm and the bread itself is really soft and fluffy yet the outer part is really crispy! and with the dip (it cost $3!!) it was really good. almost as good as a meal already!
well, needless to say, even if they increase the disc or have any kind of promo, we would not consider this place anymore.

Last March, I had the chance to try this new swanky hotel in the heart of Midvalley, KL.
When I visited, they were only at their soft opening. Their residences are not even open yet. so are some of their hotel rooms.
It was quite a good deal but I cant remember the price, we got club facilities with evening cocktail ,breakfast and all day snack n soft drinks (love their juices!, they also provide free flow of Perrier, but me not fan of gassy drinks)
their breakfast is really good, give us freshly cut fruits and freshly blended juice too.
and the best thing is The Gardens and Midvalley Megamall just downstairs.
those of u not in the know, Gardens is where all the swanky branded names are, n everyday I pass by this place to get to the more affordable Midvalley megamall.
everything was on sale too. esp Metrojaya, MrK spent alot on his new workwear there.
OT:and his bro n mom spent a Lot more on the following month Genting trip, where i got them to stop by Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam for the Metrojaya Warehouse sale.
I queued to enter the cosmetics section but nothing much catch my fancy. unlike the hype online about Stila big sale. I wanted to get some lipglazes from stila.
but i did buy Issey Miyaki ltd edt perfume. yeah I am not a perfume person, in fact i dun do any makeup at all. but every girl needs a perfume rite? well i have one already now. besides the sample sizes i always get from shopping centres
we spend alot on eating and lazing about in the room,

well the room is contemporary, with alot of hidden storage, n very huge table.
we later moved to another room with not so huge table though and seems smaller but I didnt take a pic
really good idea for my room decor next time
the bad thing is , their sink is very small n their bathtub and shower is together, so it gets very wet. however, it was not slippery at all!! i love love their marble flooring. very surprising but really not slippery.
anybody knows what kind of marble it is? or all marble is just like that?
but i like their all over glass look. very classy. and their wardrobe is just behind the sink, giving u that walk in wardrobe look.
the view is ranging from pool view or city view, but well city is a city so the view does not matter at all.
their pool is gorgeous too but their pool bar etc was not yet open n i went to the pool when it was already closed, so yeah no pic
well food wise, i discovered I love domino Pizza, first because they have thin crust and second, their garlic twisties n cinnamon bread is really good!
but the best thing gotta be their honey BBQ chix wing.
i will eat domino whenever i am in Gardens /Midvalley.
oh Before I forget, we park the car at the premier parking spot in Gardens. really good parking with huge lots.
Gardens also have its own Premier Golden Screen Cinemas, but Itwasnt cheap n I dun really want to watch the shows that they were showing. so yeah didnt get to try

this time at Central, the new mall in town, dining right beside the river, albeit with glass in between and people too
this one is Pasta de Waraku
Japanese casual dining serving unbelievable arrays of pasta
the display outside and inside, very cool,
the arrays of different pasta they served, see the black one, thats the squid pasta
the river outside its the SINGAPORE river btw

and our food
MrK ordered the bacon and ommellete pasta with creamy sauce
I ordered the pasta de vongolle with special Jap sauce (called wayu or sth)
Our mini salad (served t every diner? or is it every pasta? no idea but it tasted OK)
4th Anniversary dinner at Olive Ristorante @Labrador Park April 6, 2007

Its our 4th year together so we decided to celebrate with a nice dinner with no budget
and I choose Olive Ristorante for its ‘romantic’ ambience
I didnt know it is al fresco but it wasnt hot nor full of insect despite labrador park looming behind. It is a friendly and romantic place just the way I hope it to be
Looking at the menu, MrK was quite shocked at the prices (quite ex) but I said I liked the place so we ordered anyway
Left and Middle; Ambience Pic (sorry its very blur I didnt want to use flash but my hand is not stable enough)
Right: our drink : Explorer summer dream (sweet and nice just right) I like this drink
Our appetiser: Labrador Seafood Platter : raw salmon with caviar on the right, it is very sweet and nice. On the left: Scallop with fresh prawn (cooked) and the unique sauce in the middle
its 16 bucks but quite worth it
Their signature pizza (Al Prosctutto) We add pineapple to it because MrK cant eat pizza without pineapple. Very crispy and smooth (thin crusts) just like the one i had in italy. Very nice
My main course Linguine Scampi. Erm Very nice but expensive (I can eat the same thing for less at Basil alcove) but the prawns and olive oil were very fresh
Our dessert ( From Left to right: Warm Choco Cake (very nice with just the right amt much better than the huge serving served at Bakerzin ) PanaCotta (this Italian cream dessert is done quite well but I cant compare with any other thing because I seldom take PanaCotta.) Pear ( Pear is very nice I love it but so little huh? ) the last one is Tiramisu (of course I love tiramisu but the small serving puts me off)
Total Damage :114.20
actually we were charged just 40++ dollars but MrK ever the Kaypoh man looked at the bill and saw that we were charged just for the dessert and drink
after this we went up and enjoy the night scenery
Lack of updates bcos of examssss arrghh someone save me pls
