when I got linked by a famous lifestyle blogger msglitzy I mentioned hydrosols, to date I have tried 4 “flavours” of hydrosols and I have 3 more unopened ones stashed in my cupboard

so here are the flavours I have tried to date

Rose Geranium – Smells really floral and refreshing, I can safely say it is my most favourite so far

btw: Hydrosols are actually floral water, which means the plant eg rose geranium are boiled and then its water are extracted, distilled and made into these

some people added these hydrosols such as basil hydrosols to their food as well as these are actually food-grade things

Rose geranium helped me to even out my complexion actually, before hydrosols, you can see stark differences in skin tone around the face but now there is not so much and only in places where the light hits a lot such as cheeks area my skin tone is still uneven

in terms of hydrating power, it was ok but my skin was a normal bordering on dry and yet I was lazy with my moisturiser so I cannot really compare between the hydrosols as now I am quite religious about my skincare

next is the Lemon Balm Hydrosol – smell wise not as nice (refreshing ) as the rose geranium ones

but I think this one is really good at keeping breakouts at bay, throughout the time i used this hydrosol, I had very few breakouts even when it was nearing “that time of the month”

generally hydrosols act like a toner and I use it as such, after shower and before my moisturisers/sunblock

Now am using  the Calendula Hydrosol- it is also great actually but since I started a new skincare regime, my face is having its cleansing and therefore I experienced breakouts

but no complains for the hydrosol at all

lastly is the Witch Hazel extract, it is not really a hydrosol because it is Alcohol distilled, and therefore it is not pure water like the usual hydrosols

and because it is alcohol distilled, it contains alcohol, the version I bought from MountainRoseHerbs contain 14% of alcohol

and I use this in the morning, I only washed my face with water in the morning so I need something “stronger” to remove deadskin, dirt etc

so far so good

btw all products are purchased by me from Mountainroseherbs.com

next posts will be on my skincare regime and maybe makeup if anyone is interested

Ideally you want to keep your hydrosols in the fridge. To read more about hydrosols, read this article: http://www.57aromas.com/kb/display/188
